On November 8, medical imaging professionals from across the world will celebrate the 12th International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2023). We encourage all radiologists, radiographers, radiological technologists, professionals in other related fields and patient groups to join together on this day to recognise and promote the essential role that radiology plays in the patient journey.
The International Day of Radiology will take place on November 8 with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving public understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum.
On this day, we promote the seismic impact of radiology on medicine – earlier detection, fewer surgeries, and game-changing treatment outcomes. It is an opportunity, not only to promote these benefits amongst our colleagues in healthcare and the public at large, but to reflect on them ourselves as radiologists.
In this global spectacle, we invite all imaging experts and enthusiasts to stop, reflect on their tireless efforts, and acknowledge radiology’s pivotal role in active patient care.
We also cordially invite individuals and organisations (national radiological societies, radiological subspecialty societies, radiographer societies & allied sciences societies, imaging departments, patient groups etc.) throughout the world to share impressions of their day as they celebrate IDoR 2023:
- Capture the spirit of the day and share your photos from the IDoR 2023 festivities at your workplace. Send your snapshots, along with a quick description, to us at IDoR@myesr.org, or get creative and loud on your social media, using the hashtag #IDoR2023.
Alongside these activities, we encourage all radiologists and radiographers to amplify the visibility of medical imaging on November 8, by being particularly active on social media and remembering to use the hashtag #IDoR2023. Our favourite photos, tweets and posts from the day will be shared on our ESR social media channels.
